Expansion of Yazd-Hungary Relations with Emphasis on Joint Investments

At a meeting between the board members of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce and a Hungarian trade delegation, the focus was on enhancing economic cooperation and developing bilateral relations.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce, the session began with remarks from the governor-general of Yazd, who highlighted the sister-city relationship between Yazd and Jászberény. He stated, “We are delighted that a part of Yazd’s essence resides in Hungary. In this regard, we seek to increase international interactions between Yazd and Hungary.”

Mohammadreza Babaei highlighted Yazd Province’s economic potential, stating: “Yazd produces more than 850 types of goods across various sectors. The province ranks first nationwide in the tile and ceramic industry, accounting for 50 percent of Iran’s total production. Yazd is also among the leading provinces in steel and textile manufacturing. Despite water scarcity, we have achieved success in agriculture, particularly greenhouse cultivation. In the construction sector, Yazd produces the full range of building materials from start to finish.”

He further emphasized the expansion of relations, stating, “Yazd is ready to welcome investments in various sectors, including industry, mining, agriculture, and tourism.”

The President of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce also underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Yazd and Jászberény, saying, “There is significant potential for further collaboration in various fields. We welcome investments in Yazd and the transfer of technology.”

Mojtaba Dastmalchian added, “Yazd is a historic city in the heart of the desert, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with immense tourism potential. We are ready to host tour operators from Hungary and are prepared to send a delegation of Yazd businesspeople to Hungary to strengthen mutual interaction.”

Hassan Argi, Iran’s Trade Attaché in Hungary, remarked, “The citizens of Jászberény feel a sense of belonging to Yazd and are eager to visit their ancestral homeland.”

Argi further noted, “The Hungarian delegation is interested in investing in Yazd, particularly in recycling and technology transfer. They can also serve as ambassadors to promote Iran and Yazd’s beauty, fostering tourism between the two nations.”

The Hungarian trade delegation, reflecting on their warm reception during the visit, stated, “At the Iran Expo, we got acquainted with Iran’s export capabilities and are keen to invest in various sectors, especially recycling, in this country.”
