Yazd and India have long-standing historical and commercial relations

During the meeting between the Indian Consul and the Head of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce, it was stated that Yazd and India have long-standing historical and commercial ties.

The Indian consul in Bandar Abbas met the Head of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture and exchanged views on the commercial and business relations between Yazd province and India.

During this meeting, the Head of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce, referring to Yazd’s long-standing connection with India, said: “There has always been a good commercial relationship between Yazd and India since ancient times.”

Mojtaba Dastmalchian mentioned that Indians have also invested in Yazd in industries such as steel and tiles and ceramics. Also, many of them are active in goldsmithing workshops.”

The Head of the Yazd Chamber continued: “In addition to the steel and tile industries, Yazd province, in terms of its long history of activity in the textile sector, can also be attractive to India, which itself is advanced in the textile industry. On the other hand, the people of Yazd, similar to the Indians, are interested in gold, and there are grounds for joint cooperation in the field of traditional gold making.”

Dastmalchian also referred to the issue of renewable energies and said: “Yazd has suitable conditions for establishing solar power plants, and we welcome Indian investment in this field.”

He also mentioned Yazd’s presence in Iran’s Golden Tourism Triangle and expressed readiness to receive tourist groups from India.

The Indian consul in Bandar Abbas also mentioned: “The presence in Yazd is to get acquainted with Yazdi investors and examine the capacities for cooperation between the two countries.”

Kaushik Sengupta continued: “The Yazd Chamber of Commerce has a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana Chamber of Commerce in India, and this can lay the groundwork for more and constructive communication with the private sector. In this regard, Yazd needs to announce its investment package to us so that we can plan joint collaborations.”

He also referred to the issue of tourism and stated: “Indians are very interested in visiting Iran, and due to the same long history of connection from the past, they are willing to travel to Iran. Undoubtedly, the launch of international flights can be helpful in this regard. In fact, lack of international flights from Yazd is one of the obstacles to the development of tourism in this province.”
