The first professional trade conference in a series of professional trade conferences centered on Turkey was hosted by the Yazd Chamber of Commerce.
According to the Yazd Chamber of Commerce Public Relations, this meeting was held with the presence of Bulent Orhan Turel, Commercial Counselor of the Turkish Embassy, Davari Niko, Iranian Commercial Counselor in Turkey, Rabihawi, Director General of the West Asia Office of the Trade Development Organization, and Milad Haji Andvari, Head of the Iranian Trade Center in Turkey.
In this conference, the Director General of the West Asia Office of the Trade Development Organization, referring to Turkey as Iran’s main trade partner, said: Turkey can be Iran’s gateway to Europe.
Abdul Amir Rabihawi added: Turkey has 23 free trade agreements with many countries in the world, as well as 161 trade centers all over the world, of which more than 50 are located in 30 European countries.
Emphasizing the common opportunities between Yazd province and Turkey, Rabihawi said: There are good trade opportunities between Yazd province and Turkey and we should focus on these potentials and develop them.
Iran’s trade advisor in Turkey also said at the conference: Yazd is located in the center of the country and on the country’s communication highway, however, strengthening the airport infrastructure is needed to develop trade relations. On the other hand, and considering the sisterhood of Yazd and Bursa, and considering that Bursa is the center of atlas and silk and fabric-based arts, and Yazd also has something to say in textiles, trade exchanges in this field can be developed. Holding various events and events as well as cultural side activities nearby can also be effective.
Kamran Davari Niko continued: Establishing a special EMC for Yazd province to help manufacturers advertise and promote their products can be a suitable option. EMCs specializing in, for example, tiles and ceramics or dried fruits, etc., can also be very useful.
Turkey can be a route for Iranian products to enter the European Union
The Commercial Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Iran, pointing out that Turkey can be a route for Iranian goods to enter the European Union, said: When raw materials enter Turkey and are then processed and converted into products, regardless of where the original origin of the goods is and without customs tariffs, they can enter the European Union market.
Bulent Orhan Turel added: Iranian companies that are facing sanctions restrictions can carry out part of their final production in Turkey and export the product to all of Europe in the same way. One of Turkey’s largest trading partners is the European Union and Iran can take advantage of this opportunity.
He continued: While Turkey is among Iran’s top 5 trading partners, Iran is Turkey’s 20th trading partner, but with the right policy, it can be among the top 10 trading partners. Of course, Turkey must define its foreign economic policies under the regulations of the European Customs Union.
The Commercial Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Iran stated: Iran and Turkey have three border crossings and a fourth crossing is under construction, which shows the importance of trade between the two countries. Turkey can be a gateway for the problems of sanctions in Iran and, through a series of processes, revive Iran’s lost markets, especially in Europe.
Bulent Orhan Turel also pointed out the positive points of trade between the two countries and emphasized: Iran and Turkey are two neighboring countries that can be accessed by land. Also, the good and cheap transportation fleet in Iran is a strong point that should be considered.
He also mentioned the issue of tourism and travel and said: One of the issues that deepens the bond between the two countries is tourism. This volume of tourists between Iran and Turkey can lead to greater understanding of the two countries and, consequently, increase economic interactions.
Introducing the production and export capacities of Iran and Turkey, familiarizing with export, investment and joint cooperation opportunities, providing solutions for developing trade and bilateral cooperation, creating communication networks between economic activists in Yazd province and Turkey, etc. were among other issues that were discussed at this conference.
